Monday: we played pickleball as a district *again* we love it. Recently I haven’t been playing as good as I usually do but Monday I was doing so good and I beat my whole district in like 3 games of around the world. Something funny and humbling that happened is when we were eating at Chick-fil-a as a district we were eating outside and it was kind of windy and there was a huge gust of wind that picked up just about everything that was on the table and blew my food and everyone’s trash all over me. But somehow just me and no one else… lol humbled to say the least.
Tuesday: It was Sister Larsen’s birthday! I’m so grateful she was born so that she could be my companion right now. She’s the best. But we did service at the welcome center. The welcome center is where all the tour buses go when they come to Concordia Kansas, come to find out there’s a lot of history here. We were able to help them make little goodie bags for people who come in, it was fun to serve and get to learn a little bit more about where I am serving too! We also got fed by a member at a Mexican restaurant and of course I told the server that it was Sister Larsen's birthday! They came and sang happy birthday while smearing whipped cream on her face with a big sombrero on her head. That was the highlight of my day! I couldn’t stop singing happy birthday in spanish after that lol!
Wednesday: This day was so good! We had our district council meeting and the Sister Training Leaders came. That went really good and then we did mini exchanges for the day, meaning that me and my companion split up and paired with each of the STL’s for the day. I got to spend the rest of the day with Sister Ehat, she’s so fun, I love her. But we saw 2 huge miracles that day! Me and Sister Ehat were knocking doors and just going all around the block. We ended up turning onto Travis’s street (the guy who sleeps during the day). I pointed out his house to Sister Ehat, right as his dad opened and walked out of his garage! What! anyway we went and talked to him and asked if Travis was home. He said now wasn’t a good time because Travis and his sister were in a big fight. So we just talked to his dad and got to teach him a little about eternal families and life after death! so awesome. Travis walked out right as we were about to say a prayer with his dad. Travis was so mad after fighting with his sister and he was coming out to grab his motorcycle and leave. We asked him if he wanted to join our prayer and he said that he really just needs to leave and get out of there. We said okay, and he started his bike as we started saying our prayer. A little bit into the prayer I still heard his bike in the driveway so I looked up to see that he had taken off his helmet and was joining our prayer from a distance lol. I waved him over and he came over by us for the rest of the prayer. His heart was softened and so was mine! When we finished our prayer he looked me in the eyes and told me that he was really going to make an effort to make it to church on Sunday and that he really needed it. I was so happy he said that! He got a call from his friend right then and he was telling Travis that people brought up church 4 times that day and he feels that he really needs to go to church! Lol Travis pointed at us and we told him that he should meet with the missionaries. Travis said that he lives in San Antonio Texas. We told him that there are missionaries there too! Anyway Travis told us that we were there at the perfect time to talk to him and his friend. God is so good! Trust in God’s timing. Meanwhile sister Larsen and Sister Pratt put our friend José on date to be baptised!!! Holy Cow, I screamed when they told me! José has been taught for 5 years now! We were about to pause him because we didn’t know if he wanted to commit to be baptised. But he is so excited and so ready! I am so excited for José. 2 amazing miracles!
Thursday:
We had a really good lesson with Hayley and she’s so close to baptism but she just doesn’t feel ready yet. This lesson was the lesson where me and my companion were basically going to decide if she needs to be paused and given a little time before we finish teaching all the lessons. We got a feel for what she feels like she’s missing. We invited her to read the Book of Mormon. My companion had a strong spiritual impression to not pause her yet. So hopefully we will see blessings come from waiting a little longer. Pray she can find what she’s missing through the Book of Mormon.
Friday:
This day was freezing! but still so good. We talked to so many people! We met Darius, he was working on the side of the road as we were out knocking. We talked to him about his life, Jesus, and God. He has the strongest testimony but hasn’t been to church in a long time. When we asked what he knows about Jesus he shared the biggest testimony on Him and pretty much taught us more than we taught him. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he was so excited! We grabbed his number to send him an invite to church. We also met Daliegh, and gave her a Book of Mormon too! She seemed interested in meeting with us. We just need her parents permission because she is under the age of 18. So that doesn’t seem like it will happen, BUT she has a Book of Mormon. Pray she will have the desire to read it.
Saturday:
This day was kind of a huge bummer! it was super cold and we talked to maybe 2 people and they were very uninterested lol. Part of every Saturday is inviting everyone to church. Something kind of funny and also super embarrassing was when we went to invite Darius to church his number didn’t work! I was so bummed because he seemed really interested when we were talking to him. BUT I remembered when I checked his number with him he changed one of the numbers. I switched the number I remember him changing, to one number lower and that didn’t work so we tried the number right under that. Someone answered and I asked is this Darius? He said yes and I pretty much screamed “IT IS!” lol as if I wasn’t the one calling him. We invited him to church even though he most definitely changed his number on us. Haha. It was a shock for both of us that we were talking to each other again. Pro tip: don't change your number after you already gave me your real number. Travis wasn’t responding to any of our texts or calls either, which made me so sad. We also tried visiting our friend Mary who was on date and she has dropped off the face of the planet. We haven’t been able to get in contact with her for weeks. Pray we can get in contact with her again. When we went home for the night I was so discouraged after a long day of rejection and not talking to a single soul. I was complaining to my companion about our day and I was about to go get ready for bed. I said a prayer in my heart and pretty much told God that I would stop complaining and I would count today as a good day if Travis would just respond to our texts. I got a prompting to go check my phone and Travis had texted! I wanted to cry I was so happy! God is so aware of us and I know he sees our efforts every day. In that moment I knew God cared about the little things or maybe He was just tired of my complaining. Either way I’ll take it!
Sunday: José made it to church! Yay José! Travis woke up sick, Hayley was helping her mom move to her new house, and we don’t know what happened to Jonathan. But pray all of our friends can make it to church this upcoming week!
Fun/Funny moments:
♡ We read the Book of Mormon with Darrell who lives in a old folks home. We were looking for him in the cafeteria during meal time and one of the old ladies came up to us and asked if she could help us. We told her we were looking for Darrell, she then yelled across the cafeteria “DARRELL YOUR GIRLS ARE HERE!” Everyone physically turned their whole bodies to see Darrell's girls. Haha that was kind of embarrassing, but me and sister Larsen couldn't stop laughing after that.
♡ On PDay today me and my district went to the Salina mall and found funny hats to try on. And the elders found one of the punching bag machines. Peep the photos for funny pictures and videos.
